  • “Bonny did an overhaul of our house when she did a big addition job for us. She was our go-between with the city for permits, and she performed in an exemplary fashion. She was very pleasant and professional, and performed like a large-scale company.”

  • “When we bought our home we had Bonny do a bathroom remodel for us. When we did an addition we decided to use her again. She was just what we were looking for— she did good work, explained everything, was honest, and from a customer service standpoint she’s great.”

  • “The first thing I want to say is that Bonny came in on time and under budget, which is pretty much unheard of! The next thing is that she really listened to us. I never felt that she was imposing her vision on us, but she showed us different options, some of which we used. The whole kitchen remodel went very well, she has great workers who left our home spotless every day. We are very pleased.”

Does a woman contractor understand more than a man what makes a place feel like “home?” Bonny Weil’s clients would emphatically say “yes”. Several of them recently told us how she really took the time to find out what they were trying to achieve, and then how easy she and her crew were to work with during construction.

After attending UCLA, Bonny moved to San Francisco in 1980 and began working as an apprentice union carpenter. Soon afterwards, she started restoring old Victorians. She began to excel in fine finish work, and the use of traditional Japanese hand tools and building techniques.

In 1990 she became a licensed general contractor. She spent 11 years managing complex high-end remodels for McCutcheon Construction, of Berkeley.

Four years ago, she went out on her own. Today, she lives in Martinez, builds new additions, and creates beautiful kitchens and bathrooms throughout the East Bay.

“I can help you design, and I can tell you where to shop,” she says. “I will also prepare a very detailed ‘scope of work,’ which is a non-technical, very specific document that explains in plain English exactly what we are going to do for you.

“I have found that most people already know what they want—all they need is someone to guide them, and then to do the work for them.”

Bonny’s combination of hands-on construction skills, with experience managing hundreds of high-end remodels, is a very effective way to quickly minimize problems and delays that can arise on a complicated remodeling project.
