  • “He’s the greatest. A truly conscientious contractor whose work is superb! He did our kitchen and dining room, added a closet, then remodeled and retiled a bathroom. I just hired him again to do the other bathroom. He cleans up so well that it’s cleaner than when my maid comes!”

  • “They remodeled my kitchen, laundry and bathroom, and left nothing undone. Jim is thorough, and has a great eye for detail. His crew is excellent, and they do beautiufl finish work. That’s what I like: a nice finished product. I’m so pleased with the work they did for me.”

  • “I’ve used the Guide before, and think that Jim should definitely be listed. He remodeled my kitchen for me, and replaced a wall which had dry rot. He’s reasonably priced, and does high quality work. His workers are very pleasant.”

TLC/Goldcrest Homes is a full-service building contractor which handles everything from major kitchen and bath remodels, to custom additions, and new homes built from the ground up.

Owner Jim Pawloski has upgraded more than 500 homes in the Bay Area. He brings 30 years of experience, and a vast body of knowledge to homeowners looking for advice and hand-holding from a professional remodeling company.

(In case you’re wondering, the “TLC” in TLC/Goldcrest Homes stands for “The Lakewood Corporation.” However, Jim says it should really stand for “Tender Loving Care!”

“We bring a highly organized, systematic approach to remodeling management, while keeping a personal touch,” he explains.

“Whether it’s an “empty nester” couple who want to reconfigure their home now that the children have gone, a house-proud, single lawyer, or a gay couple, I work with people of all ages, and from different backgrounds.

“I have an ability to put myself in the other person’s shoes, and to translate their thoughts to give them exactly what they want.”

Jim has five full-time employees, and a network of handpicked, specialty subcontractors.

“I have terrific people working for me,” he says, “Our clients can communicate with them, so that if any questions arise, they can be answered immediately. They’re thoughtful, careful, clean and neat. They make the experience as pleasant as possible”

While Jim often helps people redesign their homes to flow better, his primary focus is on “ready-made remodels”, where clients keep the existing layout of their home without knocking out walls, or doing major structural changes. He takes an existing space, brings it up to date, fixes any things that were done incorrectly in the past, and makes it all work together.

“Whether it’s a new home, an addition, or a custom remodel, I give prospective clients a very detailed proposal. If we agree to proceed, I create a time-line specifying exactly what’s going to happen, and when. Then we perform a quality installation, with a minimum of fuss.”
